Important Notes:

  • Each machine, SmartBOL software is installed on, must be licensed. Refer to SmartBOL licensing policy here.

  • If SmartBOL Classic or Enterprise is already installed on the machine, backup data files from data folder and uninstall SmartBOL.

  • If you are upgrading to newer version, make sure that your support contract is active. Newer version of SmartBOL may not work with older keys. In addition, SmartBOL will upgrade your data files and may make them unusable with your earlier version.

  • QuickBooks Interface on Terminal Server: Install SmartBOL from console otherwise it will not work with QuickBooks.

System Requirement

Hardware: Dual Core Processor or better, 512MB RAM, 100MB free disk space, Monitor with 1024x768 or higher resolution

Windows: 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 7, Vista, XP with Service Pack 3, Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server.

Internet Explore 6.0 or better

For installing SmartBOL Classic or Enterprise on network, Windows Terminal Server or Citrix, review licensing policy here.

Enterprise Installation:

  • SmartBOL Enterprise needs Microsoft SQL Server 2012 database. If you have SQL Server already installed, please skip the next step.

  • Install SQL Server Express Database from CDs or by downloading from the Microsoft website -

32 Bit SQL Server Express 2008 R2 

64 Bit SQL Server Express 2012 

  • Install SmartBOL Enterprise by double clicking SmartBOL installer - downloaded file

  • Run Admin Tool (Start --> All Programs --> ADi SMartBOL --> Enterprise --> Admin Tool)

  • Enter License Key (Please use Copy and Paste)

  • Click on Menu --> Create Databases

  • Enter SQL Server information such as server name / IP, instance (if any), userid and password.

  • Click on Create Databases. Status messages will be shown in the status window

  • If successful, close Admin Tool and run SmartBOL Enterprise

  • For additional client installation:

    • Run SmartBOL Enterprise installer on the client

    • Copy configuration file sbconf.cfg from the first client to the same location on the new client

    • sbconf.cfg file location:

      • For 2000 / XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ADi SmartBOL\SmartBOL\cnf

      • For Vista / Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\ADi SmartBOL\SmartBOL\cnf
